P90X Day 1: Chest & Back

I started P90X today. It actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. I guess as a veteran these exercises were familiar to me. We did essentially the same thing in boot camp, except we did full body workouts instead of different areas on different days.

I barely even broke a sweat, but I definitely couldn’t do 12 or 15 pull-ups like the guys in the video. My arms are feeling very rubbery now after all the pushups.

How many calories do you think you burn doing 60-75 minutes of P90X? I entered “calisthetics – vigorous effort” into myfitnesspal.com and it said 797 for 75 minutes. That seems awfully high, doesn’t it? That’s the equivalent of a 5 or 6 mile run for me and I didn’t exert nearly as much energy (well at least it didn’t feel like it).

I’ll be interested to see how the next 89 days go.
