Rockstar Sugar Free | Chad'z Energy Drink Reviews #43

Rockstar is the Pepsi to Red Bull's Coke. A lot of people prefer this brand, actually. To me, they all taste pretty much the same. Since I reviewed Red Bull's "Total Zero" a few days ago I got a lot of requests to review this one as an almost side-by-side comparison. I wasn't too crazy about the "Total Zero" - so how would Rockstar's zero sugar/zero carb offering stack up?

Red Bull Total Zero | Chad'z Energy Drink Reviews #42

This is probably one of the most requested drinks for me to review. It's basically sugar free Red Bull with Splenda added to it. It's called "Total Zero" because there's no sugar and no carbs - but is there anything worth tasting? Let's see.....

A&W Cream Soda | Chad'z Soda Reviews #26

The last soda from the promotional package sent to me by I don't think I've seen A&W Cream Soda in my local stores. Maybe it's there, but I don't go down the soda aisle at the market that often. What's also interesting is that this just says "cream soda" and every other instance of the product calls it "Sparkling Vanilla Cream Soda." Is this something new?

Homebrew #3 ("Naval Black Hops") Part 4: Tasting

Our Black IPA has been bottle conditioning for 12 days now, so Shaun and I thought it was time to give it an initial taste test. We're entering it in a contest hosted by The Ruck and judging is about two weeks away on Saturday the 23rd. We're going to keep the recipe a secret until after the contest.

The basic recipe:
Brewed: 5/6/12
Secondary: 5/17/12
Bottled: 5/30/12

OG: 1.060
FG: 1.021 (taken prior to transfer to secondary)
ABV: 5.2%

60 Malt
Dehusked Carafa II
Breiss Special Roast Malt (50L)
Black Patent
Dry Malt Extract

Bittering: Magnum
Flavoring: Crystal, Centennial, Citra
Aroma: Cascade
Dry hops: Amarillo, Simcoe

White Labs California Ale Yeast

Nestle Pure Life (5 gallons) + ~1 gallon Albany tap water

Homebrew #2 ("Chad'z Truly Unsupervised Hefeweizen") Part 4: Final Taste Test

Even though Shaun and I took a taste of my hefeweizen ("Chad'z Truly Unsupervised Hefeweizen") a couple weeks ago, I didn't feel it was ready at the time. So this time we compared a chilled bottle to one at room temperature. The beer has been in bottles for a month at this point. Will it be ready to go?

Homebrew #3: Part 3: Bottling

I had to shoot this with my iPhone because my regular camera broke. I guess it's pretty self-explanatory. Now we just have to wait a few weeks for it to carbonate and finish conditioning and we'll give it a taste test before the contest on June 23rd. I can't wait!
